Appointment confirmation calls that cut no-shows

Clero phones each patient 24 to 48 hours before their appointment to confirm. If they cannot come, it reschedules on the call and updates your diary.

42% to 11% no-show rate at a 4-site group within its first month on Clero

What are appointment confirmation calls?

An appointment confirmation call is a short phone call to a patient shortly before their visit, asking them to confirm they will attend. It differs from a text reminder because the patient has to answer, and because they can change the appointment there and then.

Clero makes these calls for every appointment in tomorrow's diary. Patients who are coming are marked as confirmed. Patients who cannot make it are offered another time on the same call. Your team learns about a gap a day early, when there is still time to fill it.

How it works

How confirmation calls work

Four steps, from the phone ringing to the diary being up to date.

  1. 01

    Clero reads your upcoming diary

Appointments come from your practice management system. There is no list to export or upload each day.

  2. 02

    Each patient gets a call

Claire rings 24 to 48 hours ahead, says which practice she is calling from and confirms the date, time and clinician.

  3. 03

    Confirm, move or cancel

The patient confirms, or picks a new time on the same call. Where a payment is due, a secure link is sent to their phone.

  4. 04

    Your diary is updated

The appointment status changes in your practice management system, and patients who could not be reached are listed for your team.

What Clero handles on a confirmation call

  • A real conversation

Patients can ask a question, say they are running late or explain why they cannot come. A one-way text cannot do that.

  • Payments and deposits

Outstanding payments can be requested by secure payment link during the same call.

  • Every site, every day

Groups can run confirmations across all locations, each on its own diary.

A text is one-way and easy to ignore. A confirmation call gets an answer from the patient, and lets them reschedule on the spot if they cannot come.
